A study by the Institute for Women's Policy Research that analyzed actual data from the CDC and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) on pandemic flu infection and absence from work due to illness of the US population concluded that taking at least part of a week off work curtails infection rates.

That comes as no big surprise to anyone except maybe the WHO and government health officials. I'm fortunate to now be working for a company that has paid sick days and it certainly helps because the people who get sick don't come in and give it to everyone else at work.

I'd love for people to take paid sick leave to prevent the spread of any infectious disease. The problem is most employers will not do what it takes to make this happen.
