A geographic association with northern latitudes has been observed in autoimmune diseases that may have been caused by reduced vitamin D from decreased solar exposure and the immune effects of vitamin D deficiency.

But Vit "D" is too easy, too cheap, and not owned by big pharma...being healthy isn't going to feed the monster.

True, true. I've also heard in a lot of places that the daily recommended amount of vitamin D is much lower than it should be, especially if you're using it for a therapeutic purpose.

No, all you need it 10 or 15 minutes of sunlight. They could probably lie their way around it in ads, though.

University of San Diego...Breast cancer link on Vid.D.. Note the reference on GLOBOCAN tool of WHO.

This paper used worldwide data only recently available through a new tool called GLOBOCAN, developed by the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer. GLOBOCAN is a database of cancer incidence, mortality and prevalence for 175 countries.

Here is another link on Diabetes here

I realize that this seed is about rheumatoid arthritis, but l think the other links, being about the deficiency of Vit. D also apply. Too many people are very deficient in Vit. D, which seems to answer (at least for me ) why the Drs. are now testing D levels of more people for this... How many other things are connected to low levels of D in the human body?

Sometimes, the low Vitamin D levels are results of these conditions, such as mine, rather than a cause. Not to invalidate John's information, which is interesting. Just a footnote.

That's true, too. I know that I have to take a lot of supplements because of my colitis, which makes it very difficult for me to absorb nutrients from my food.

    Vitamins

Vitamin A may alleviate Colitis and Vitamin A deficiency may exacerbate Colitis.
Colitis may occur as a result of severe Vitamin B1 deficiency.
Vitamin E exerts antioxidant effects that may reduce the production of Free Radicals in Colitis patients.
