The congressional majority leadership has issued its "short list" of bills it wants to push to passage before the August recess. The good news is: S.510 is NOT on the list! The bad news is that the bill's handers could "sneak it through" the Senate as a "unanimous consent" non-controversial matter! That is, unless opposing Senators put a "hold" on the bill, which means it cannot be treated as non-controversial.
Was A Deal Struck To Industrializes The US Food Chain By Sneaking S.510 Through After The August Recess As A "Unanimous Consent" And "Noncontroversial" Bill?

Short, But Not At All Sweet: We WILL Lose Access to Clean, Unadulterated Food If We Do Not Act Now In Huge Numbers. Even if you have taken action on this issue before, make sure you take action on this new item. We need hundreds of thousands of emails to stop this bill - we've kept it off the floor for 9 months through our pressure. This is vitally important. I read most of the bill and quite a bit has been struck out of the text. HOWEVER, I did spot one very concerning point on the bill and it seems to put the monitoring of regulations on to the processors to "self-regulate". Isn't this what we just went through with the BP oil spill?
Self monitoring and regulating does not work, when profits are the focal point of the whole issue.
The FDA and USDA need to start doing their job and regulating the food safety in this country. It is becoming very alarming, that the big 5 corporations are now running all chicken farms and Monsanto is getting its deadly grip on the seed supply.
I don't like this bill.....will pass it on to others. Thanks for posting GOZO!
