Cannabinoids (chemical constituents of Cannabis, the best known being tetrahydrocannabinol or THC) may have a primary role in cancer treatment and prevention. A number of studies have shown that these compounds can inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animal models.

I know a couple of people who have been able to get marijuana oil for cancer and are still living well after having been on their death bed.

I wonder how big pharma is going to try to de-rail the research into cannabis. They in no way want any "official" recognition of it's possibilities.

They will first work to own the dna of the most potient tpes of cannabis. The problem for big pharma is they do not want you to be able to produce your own cannnibis.

Controlling personal cultivation of cannabis will be like trying to control the earths population of houseflies.

I've heard the pot fields from WWII still keep sprouting, and that the DEA uses the eradication of them to "pad" their pot eradication effectiveness, 10,000 plants killed... 9900 of them in a former gov't hemp plantation that has so many seeds it will forever be a pot field....

That's why they will keep it illegal because if they cannot control the ownership they will not allow it to be legal. This is why main stream doctors do not know about nutrition because big pharma wants them to prescribe drugs not tell people how to eat right to prevent disease.

There is so much research that has been done and proven to do really good things. How can mainstream keep ignoring the data. Dr. Weil is very conservative (although considered "new age" by many) and I'm really glad to see him support marijuanna.
I'm saddened by the thought that big pharma will never let this be legal to the public. Sometimes, when I look at the world today, I'm glad that my time here is closing sooner than later.

In February 2000 researchers in Madrid announced they had destroyed incurable brain tumors in rats by injecting them with THC, the active ingredient in cannabis. The study was later published in the journal Nature Cancer Review. Chances are that you have never heard of this study, the same as you likely never heard of a previous similar study. There has been a virtual news blackout as well as a concerted government effort to suppress such stories and studies for over thirty years.
The study by Manuel Guzman of Madrid Spain found that cannabinoids, the active components of marijuana, inhibited tumor growth in laboratory animals by modulating key cell-signaling pathways and thus causing direct growth arrest and death of tumor cells. The study also found that cannabinoids inhibited angiogenesis and that cannabinoids were usually well tolerated and did not produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional chemotherapies.
According to neurologist Dr. Ethan Russo, the Guzman study was very important because cancer cells become immortalized and fail to heed normal signals to turn off growth and die on cue. In addition, the other way that tumors grow is by sending out signals to promote angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels. Cannabinoids turn off these signals as well.
Normally, any story that even suggests the possibility of a new treatment for cancer is greeted with headlines about a "cancer cure" - however remote or improbable it might be. However, if marijuana is involved, don't expect any coverage from mainstream media.
News coverage of the Madrid discovery has been virtually nonexistent in this country. The news broke quietly on Feb. 29, 2000 with a story that ran once on the UPI wire about the Nature Medicine article. The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times all ignored the story, even though its newsworthiness would seem indisputable: a benign substance occurring in nature destroys deadly brain tumors.
The previous study which indicated that marijuana could be effective against cancer was conducted in 1974. In that study, researchers at the Medical College of Virginia, who had been funded by the National Institutes of Health to find evidence that marijuana damages the immune system, found instead that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice - lung and breast cancer, and virus-induced leukemia.
The DEA quickly shut down the Virginia study and all further cannabis/tumor research, according to Jack Herer, who reported on the events in his book, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes". In 1976, President Gerald Ford ended all public research on cannabis and granted exclusive research rights to major pharmaceutical companies, who unsuccessfully attempted to develop synthetic forms of THC that would deliver the medical benefits without the "high."
In 1983, the Reagan/Bush Administration attempted to persuade American universities and researchers to destroy all 1966-76 cannabis research work, including compendiums in libraries, reported Herer. He stated, "We know that large amounts of information have since disappeared."
On March 29, 2001, the San Antonio Current printed a story by Raymond Cushing titled, "POT SHRINKS TUMORS; GOVERNMENT KNEW IN '74" which detailed government and media suppression of news about marijuana cancer benefits. Cushing noted in his article that it was hard to believe that the knowledge that cannabis can be used to fight cancer has been suppressed for almost thirty years and aptly concluded his article by saying:
"Millions of people have died horrible deaths and in many cases, families exhausted their savings on dangerous, toxic and expensive drugs. Now we are just beginning to realize that while marijuana has never killed anyone, marijuana prohibition has killed millions."
[Editor`s Note: NaturalNews is strongly against the use of all forms of animal testing. We fully support implementation of humane medical experimentation that promotes the health and wellbeing of all living creatures.]

Hey Gozo! I wish I could have said it that eloquently! I have to put the brakes on myself when I think of this situation, it just makes me crazy. To think there is actually a naturally occurring substance that KILLS cancer and no one seems to care. It has NEVER been documented to have ill effects (except maybe a little concentration, but even that is not permanent). I'm almost to the point of making public outcries and starting a revolution just to get people to listen.
And I'd also like to point out the fact that getting "high" on marijuanna is NOT the same as getting high on alcohol, which is legal. The FACTS are that alcohol kills, directly and indirectly. While under the influence of alcohol, one may do and say things they normally wouldn't. They also will suffer from blackouts, not to mention permanent brain damage, liver damage, kidney damage, I could go on and on, and on........let's count the ways that marijuanna kills, hurts, or maims, uh, I can't seem to find ANY evidence of that anywhere.
AND, I'd like to know when it became a crime to "feel good" in this country? Getting high on marijuanna is alot different than most folks think. The craziest thing I ever did while "high" was laugh so hard it hurt my stomach. I'd say that could be considered dangerous if people everywhere just started having better days, better dispositions, and let's not forget all the pills that would not be taken. Incredible.
I'm probably going to go public (as if I haven't) and join some group and campaign for the legalization of canibis. Or maybe just talk only about medical marijuanna and it's benefits to everyone I come into contact with. We should not as a nation, sit back and let big business and big brother keep this from us.
Again, thanks for your input and interest. I'm really new here and don't expound on much but when I do, it's almost obnoxious. I don't care, I'm right about this.

I'm sorry, I talked like this was my seed! Forgive me.........oh no, another pot related incident. An adled brain under the influence! (I just wish, it really does help with my anger issues)

I Ching Reading for help with anger issues:
Hexagram: 52 - Fifty-Two
Kên / The Mountain
I Ching Hexagram: 52
Name: Ken.
Keyphrase: Keeping still.
Formed By The Trigrams: Mountain over Mountain.
General: Any and all effective action must be born out of stillness.
Love: In order to see things clearly you must let go of any preconceptions.
Business: Clear your mind before making any important business decisions.
Personal: Learn how to meditate to help achieve a still mind.
Overview: Ken reminds you that if your mind is full of clutter it will not be able to hold new thoughts and ideas. Ken appears when you have a need to take a break and withdraw from the world for a moment in order to clear out the old in your mind to make way for the new. Meditation is the key to this process. It is not simply a time for rest. It is not an easy task to free your mind from daily worries, but it is necessary to do so, so that you can see and think more objectively than before. Old thoughts hinder your actions, compelling you to make the same mistakes. Clear them out - don't let them trap you.
Above this Mountain's summit another more majestic rises: The Superior Person is mindful to keep his thoughts in the here and now. Stilling the sensations of the Ego, he roams his courtyard without moving a muscle, unencumbered by the fears and desires of his fellows.
This is no mistake.
SITUATION ANALYSIS:
There is a higher vantage point available to you, but it is obscured by the visible peak of personal ambition. To climb to this higher plane, you must shake off the desires and fears of the conscious, visible world around you. To make this journey you must quiet the Ego, empty your mind of past and future, and dwell totally in the moment at hand. Thorough mindfulness of what is before you is the only tranquility.
Be. Here. Now.
With Love GOZO
